Oklahoma City Branch Kang's Martial Arts Academy has an Oklahoma City branch.
Michael & Shannon Thieme Starting at age 16, Michael Thieme began studying the martial arts to strengthen his back following several back injuries. Nearly 15 years later, Tae Kwon Do has strengthened his back and nearly every other aspect of his life from physical to mental to spiritual. He received his first black belt in 2001 in the Chung do Kwon discipline of Tae Kwon Do. In 2002, while pursuing a Law degree at the University of Iowa, Capt Thieme began training under Master Min-Seok Kang. Under Master Kang’s tutelage, Capt Thieme became a certified instructor and tournament referee, and was the Chief Instructor at Master Kang’s two schools in Iowa. He received his second black belt under the World Tae Kwon Do Federation banner in 2005. After receiving his law degree and entering the United States Air Force, he and his wife and two kids moved to Oklahoma City and Tinker Air Force Base. He and his wife, also an accomplished black belt, have started a branch school for military families in the Oklahoma City area. The Oklahoma City branch of Kang’s Martial Arts Academy recently competed in the 22nd Annual Oklahoma Invitational Tae Kwon Do Championship and secured 10 gold medals, 5 silver medals, 5 bronze medals and an overall top team award.

fierce determination in the sparring ring, Shannon Thieme has been studying
martial arts for more than 5 years, receiving her Black Belt from Kang,s
Martial Arts in 2005. Wanting to find a sport she and her husband could do
together, Shannon followed her husband to a Tae Kwon Do class and the rest
is history. Shannon joins her husband in a love for martial arts and has
loved especially the artistic traditions of Tae Kwon Do. She has received
many first place medals/trophies for form as well as creative form. She is
now part of the husband-wife instructing team at the Oklahoma City Branch of
Kang’s Martial Arts Academy. She excels in training children and adults of
all ages but specializes in instructing young children under the age of 6 to
develop a firm foundation of the basics for the next generation of martial
artists.
